Genie Intellicode vs DIP Switch: Remote Selection

Intellicode and Genie 9/12 DIP are distinct systems. G3T-R is listed for Intellicode; GM3T-R is a discontinued historical DIP-capable model.

The useful difference

The difference starts at the opener, not the remote shell. A Genie motor-unit label or manual can identify Intellicode, while older fixed-code equipment may expose DIP switches. The current G3T-R product page does not make it a DIP transmitter.

How to choose

If you have DIP equipment, do not order a G3T-R on the strength of Genie branding. The GM3T-R source remains useful for history, but any new replacement needs a current product chart.

A used remote does not define the opener

A previously paired transmitter may have come from another garage or may no longer reflect a changed receiver. Read the motor-unit label and its technology designation rather than deciding from the remote in a drawer. Genie’s G3T-R page names Intellicode; its discontinued GM3T-R documentation discusses older DIP support. These are different source scopes, and neither supplies a verified current replacement for every legacy Genie model.
